Overview

The 8610 is the 750 W model of B&K Precision's 8600 series programmable DC electronic loads. It operates from 0 to 120 V and 0 to 120 A, with a minimum operating voltage of 1.2 V at full-scale current so low-voltage sources such as fuel cells and solar cells can be loaded. Constant current, constant voltage, constant resistance and constant power modes are joined by a CR-LED mode that simulates the loading behavior of typical LEDs; transient operation runs in continuous, pulse and toggle form at up to 25 kHz in CC mode, list mode sequences complex load profiles, and slew rate is adjustable in CC mode.

Measurement is 16-bit resolution on voltage and current (1 mV and 0.1 mA on the low ranges), and remote voltage sensing compensates for lead voltage drop. Test-oriented functions include the built-in battery test with voltage level, capacity level and timer stop conditions, short circuit testing, OCP and OPP protection validation, and storage for 100 setups. Protection covers OVP, OCP, OPP and OTP including local and remote reverse voltage (LRV/RRV). USB (USBTMC-compliant), RS232 and GPIB come standard, with SCPI commands for remote control.
