Overview
The Keysight 3458A Digital Multimeter addresses applications where speed and precision are both required. Reading rates scale from 4.5-digit DCV measurements at 100,000 readings per second up to 8.5-digit resolution at six readings per second, adjustable in 100 ns steps. Multi-slope converter technology provides extraordinary linearity, 0.01 ppm rms internal noise, and less than 100 ps time jitter for digitizing work, with a 12 MHz analysis bandwidth and timing resolution down to 10 ns.
Self-calibration using internal high-stability standards eliminates errors from drift and temperature change, and external calibration requires only a precision 10 VDC source and 10 kΩ resistor. Measurement results move across GPIB or into the 75,000-reading memory at up to 100,000 readings per second, while nonvolatile program memory stores complete measurement sequences for stand-alone operation. Voltage reference stability is 8 ppm per year standard, with a 4 ppm per year option available.
