Overview

DETEX electronic voltage detectors provide continuous monitoring with no on/off switch and respond to minimum phase-to-ground voltages in accordance with ANSI C84.1, while conforming to IEC guidelines for capacitive high-voltage test instruments. The 514242 series is rated for transmission line voltages and uses four LEDs for visibility at greater distances.

A push-button self-test uses a built-in piezo voltage source to verify the indicators and circuitry before use; when released, a green LED confirms the detector is ready. While voltage within the operating range is present, the green LED extinguishes, the red LEDs flash and the audio tone sounds until the detector is removed.
