Overview
The AEMC 6470-B Ground Resistance Tester is a portable instrument for measuring ground resistance, soil resistivity, bonding resistance and earth coupling on electrical installations. It measures ground resistance from 0.011 Ohm up to 99.99 kOhm with an intrinsic error of ±(2% + 1 count) in 4-pole mode, using either the simplified 62% method or the full method with auxiliary electrodes. Test voltage is selectable at 16 or 32 V RMS square wave, and the test frequency can be set manually from 41 to 513 Hz or scanned automatically, which suppresses interference by more than 80 dB in electrically noisy environments.
The instrument also performs 4-point soil resistivity with automatic Rho calculation and a choice of Wenner or Schlumberger electrode methods, plus 2- and 4-wire DC bond testing with automatic polarity reversal over 0.01 Ohm to 99.99 kOhm. Up to 512 complete test results are stored in internal memory for recall on the 256-segment backlit LCD or download to a PC through the supplied DataView® software. Power comes from a rechargeable 9.6 V, 3.5 Ah NiMH battery pack that supports wall-charger or vehicle charging, and the dustproof, rainproof field case is IP54 rated when closed.
