Overview

The Ametek RK-4000CM-1B Deadweight Tester is the cmH2O configuration of the AMETEK Model RK portable floating-ball pneumatic deadweight tester, a self-regulating primary pressure standard for low-pressure calibration work. Instead of a piston and cylinder, the RK design floats a rugged ceramic ball on a thin film of air: calibrated weights stacked on the ball carrier set the output pressure, and the supply regulates itself so the ball spins and floats in equilibrium without the operator rotating anything. The RK-4000CM certified range runs from 10 to 4010 cmH2O with 10 cmH2O weight increments, and the -1B accuracy option tightens the rating to +/-0.025% of reading with a repeatability of +/-0.005% of reading.

The tester is built for both bench and field use. It runs from a nitrogen bottle or instrument/shop air with a supply between 30 and 450 psi (210 to 3100 kPa), connects to the device under test through a 1/8 in female NPT port, and can be trimmed to local gravity when ordered. Stainless steel weight masses (8 to 30 kg, with optional small incremental aluminum sets) ship in a dedicated case beside the 38.1 x 24.1 x 20.3 cm tester base, which weighs 8.2 to 14.3 kg. Standard delivery includes the tester base with case, weight set, operating manual and a NIST-traceable certificate, and the temperature coefficient is held to +/-0.00167% of reading per °C outside 23°C.
