Overview
The Amprobe BAT-500 tests battery condition by measuring internal impedance with a 1 kHz AC signal while simultaneously reading battery voltage. Rising impedance indicates ageing cells, so trending results helps predict remaining battery life before failures occur.
The comparator function classifies each battery as pass, warning or fail against user thresholds. Results are stored in memory and can be downloaded via the supplied RS-232-to-USB cable and software for trend and life-cycle analysis. Amprobe notes the tester is intended for batteries not connected in series with active switching systems such as online UPS.
