Overview

By Ashcroft's ordering code, the S suffix sets the fluid to petroleum oil (SAE 20) and the C suffix selects the 0/500 psi test gauge. The reference is a 6 in Grade 4A temperature-compensated gauge with ±0.1% of span accuracy, delivered with a traceable certificate. The comparator itself generates up to 10,000 psi, so other test gauges can be fitted for higher ranges.

A two-stage pump with a shuttle valve gives fast filling at low pressure and fine control at high pressure. The aluminium pump body, Buna-N O-rings and a reservoir of about 0.7 L keep the unit light, and everything packs into a metal carrying case with pipes, adapters and tools for connecting gauges of different sizes and mountings.
